Luke Brindley

The Brilliant Inventions

The Local Tourists

Thursday
April 3

Luke Brindley
New Jersey raised DC-based Luke Brindley affirms his relevance among leading young singer/songwriters. Critics have praised his most recent self-titled release as “One of the year’s best roots-rock releases” (The Washington Post) and he was awarded “Best Contemporary Folk Album of the Year” by the Washington Area Music Association. The trio is a unique opportunity for fans to see Luke’s music in a stripped down and intimate atmosphere; it’s a show not to be missed.
Luke Brindley

The Brilliant Inventions
Songwriters Eliot Bronson and Josh Lamkin tried hard not to form a band together. But, even though they're near-opposites--Bronson is thoughtful, while Lamkin is something of a cutup--they hit it off quite naturally. Kept bumping into each other around the club circuit. Became friends. Started booking themselves on the same bills. Hung out on the road. Sat in on each other's sets. Realized they sang really well together and brought out the best in each other's writing. Couldn't help noticing that their divergent personalities just clicked onstage. You can probably see where this is heading. The funny part is that it took them so long to figure out what was so patently obvious: Fate wanted Josh and Eliot to make music together. And so they did.

The Local Tourists
The Local Tourists are Brendan O’Malley and Kent Schauble. Classically trained singers and musicians, O’Malley and Schauble have recently completed the recording of their debut album, “Happy Birthday, Kyle.” The Local Tourists most recently performed at the Hard Rock Café Moscow in Moscow, Russia.

The Roadside Graves

Friday
June 6

To Be A Highpowered Executive
To Be A High Powered Executive (or TBAHPE for short) fuses the emotionally-driven, epic nature of post-rock in tweaker-out manner allowing the individuality of the musicians to add some more ingredients to the formula that Godspeed You Black Emperor helped to create. Their secret weapons include a bow and a glockenspiel! TBAHPE's debut album, “We don’t want it safe, We want it secret” was released last November on Ropeadope Digital.

Stars Apart
A very melodic 4 piece band that kicks out crafted, vibrant rock tunes with expanding tones. Stars Apart owns their original space in music with dynamic, intelligent songs, and cool energy. Currently supporting their debut, 11 song release “Investigation of the Phantom Signal”

The Roadside Graves
“Thanks largely to the band's Jersey roots and Mike DeBlasio's dramatic contributions on piano and organ, this lineup all but guarantees a few unavoidable E-Street echoes. But their sweet-tempered country-rock is far more slippery than it might first appear, buffered as it is by rich Jayhawks vocal harmonies, Benson's quicksilver guitar leads, and frequent detours that can occasionally conjure images of a roadhouse Bad Seeds. These unexpected instrumental flourishes serve well to illuminate the intimate psychic geography that Gleason ambitiously maps out in his lyrics.”

The Band of Heathens

Thursday
June 12

Formed in Austin, TX, the Band of Heathens became a band totally by accident. Songwriters Colin Brooks, Gordy Quist, and Ed Jurdi were all doing regular sets at Momo's in Austin when they began sitting in with each other, eventually making the whole thing one big show that they called the Good Time Supper Club, which was essentially three singer/songwriters in the round backed by a solid rhytlun section ofJohn Chipman on drums and Seth Whitney on bass.

What started out as a spontaneous side project soon became a full-fledged rock & roll band. The group's first two albums were both live affairs, 2006's Live from Momo's and 2007's Live at Antone's (which was also released on DVD), while their third, simply called The Band o(Heathens, was produced by Ray Wylie Hubbard and released in 2008 on BOH Records. -All Music Guide

Our song “Somewhere” is heard around the world due to the sales of the Serenity House CD which benefits hospice care in Doylestown, PA.
